Shampoo Bar Soap
A shampoo bar is a solid, concentrated version of liquid shampoo, without the water that typically makes up a large percentage of bottled shampoo. Because there’s no bottle and no added water, a single bar often lasts through many more washes than it looks like it should, and it produces far less plastic waste over time than repeatedly buying liquid shampoo bottles.
Solid shampoo bars work well for most hair types, though people with very dry or curly hair sometimes prefer to follow up with a leave-in conditioner or oil afterward, since bar shampoos can occasionally leave hair feeling slightly different than sulfate-heavy liquid shampoos during the first few washes as hair adjusts.
How to use it:
Wet your hair thoroughly, then either rub the bar directly between your palms to build a lather before applying, or glide the bar directly over wet hair a few times and then work it through with your hands. Massage into the scalp as you would with liquid shampoo, then rinse well. Let the bar dry on a well-draining dish between uses rather than leaving it sitting in water.
A few honest notes:
Some people notice a short adjustment period when switching from liquid shampoo to a bar, especially if they’re used to sulfate-based formulas — this typically settles within a few washes. Store away from standing water to help the bar last longer.
