Protein Treatment Mask
Hair goes through two main kinds of damage: loss of moisture, and loss of protein structure — and they need different fixes. A moisture treatment (like a leave-in conditioner or oil) softens hair, while a protein treatment like this one is meant to reinforce and strengthen strands that feel weak, overly stretchy, or prone to breaking, often from heat styling, coloring, or general wear.
Protein treatments are usually used less often than a regular conditioner — hair can actually become stiff or brittle if it gets too much protein relative to moisture, so this is a periodic treatment rather than an everyday step.
How to use it:
Apply generously to clean, damp hair after shampooing, focusing on mid-lengths and ends rather than the scalp. Leave on for the time specified for deep treatments (typically 15–30 minutes; using a shower cap or warm towel can help it absorb better), then rinse thoroughly, followed by a light conditioner if hair feels stiff afterward.
A few honest notes:
If hair starts to feel stiff, straw-like, or extra prone to breaking after regular use, that’s usually a sign of too much protein and not enough moisture — space out treatments or follow with a moisturizing conditioner to rebalance.
