Urembo Sugar Scrub
“Urembo” is Swahili for beauty — fitting for a product built around the simplest kind of skincare ritual there is: physical exfoliation. Sugar scrubs work by using granules to manually lift away dry, flaky skin, which is a different mechanism from chemical exfoliants (like acids), and tends to feel more immediately satisfying, even if it’s less precise.
Because sugar dissolves in water, it’s generally gentler than salt-based scrubs, making it a reasonable option for rougher body areas without being overly harsh — though it’s still a physical exfoliant, so it shouldn’t be used on broken or irritated skin.
How to use it:
Use on damp skin in the shower, massaging in circular motions over rough areas like elbows, knees, and heels. Rinse thoroughly. Once or twice a week is usually enough — daily use of any physical scrub can be too abrasive for most skin.
A few honest notes:
Because it contains sugar and oils, the shower floor can get slippery — use caution, and consider a bath mat. Avoid using on freshly shaved skin, as it can sting on newly exposed skin.
